With over 60,000 plugins, a dozen serious page builders and new hosting providers appearing constantly, every WordPress consultation raises the same question: which tool is actually better — not in theory, but in practice? This page is my central starting point for all comparison articles on wptraining.at. Instead of keeping ten tabs open, you will find every comparison sorted by topic here — and I keep adding new comparisons to this overview.

How I assess tools
Every comparison on this page follows the same five criteria — that keeps the recommendations comparable with one another:
- Price — entry cost and price at full feature scope, always marked with the year of the respective article.
- GDPR/data protection — server location, data processing agreement, data flowing to third countries.
- German-language support — decisive for many of my clients.
- Performance impact — what the tool costs in loading time and back-end load.
- Learning curve — how quickly an individual without a developer background becomes productive.

Still unsure which plugins you fundamentally need?
Before you dive into individual tool comparisons, it is worth looking at my plugin pillar article: WordPress plugins 2026: which ones do you really need? — there you will find my annotated list of categories with a first recommendation and an alternative.
Frequently asked questions
Why do you always compare three tools instead of just two?
Because in most categories the real choice is rarely limited to two options. A third candidate often reveals where the market leaders genuinely have weaknesses.
Where do the stated prices come from?
Directly from the providers' websites, as of the publication year of the respective article. Prices change — if you spot a larger discrepancy, please let me know in the comments and I will update it.
Do you receive a commission if I buy through these links?
With some providers, yes. Individual links on this page are partner links — you can recognise them by the advertising disclosure above the article, and the price stays the same for you. That does not change the selection: I recommend what I use myself, and I write down the weaknesses even when I earn something on a product.
Is this overview kept up to date?
Yes — a new comparison is added every week, and I link it here straight away.
Conclusion
This overview keeps growing week by week. If you have a question about a particular WordPress tool comparison that is still missing here, feel free to write to me — and if you would rather make a well-founded decision for your project directly instead of reading through ten articles, my online course is the faster route. → To the online course
