WordPress Training in Linz and Upper Austria: An Overview of Providers

WordPress Training in Linz and Upper Austria: An Overview of Providers
Contents (15)

Are you looking for WordPress training in Linz or somewhere in Upper Austria? Then you have more choice than it might seem at first glance: courses at WIFI, at the adult education centre (VHS), with regional web designers, plus online offers like mine.

I offer WordPress training myself, exclusively online via video. Even so, this post is not an advertising list but an honest overview. For some people, an in-person course in Linz is the better choice, and I say so openly. If you would like to know straight away how my training for Linz and Upper Austria works, you will find everything on my page about WordPress training for Linz and Upper Austria.

WordPress training in Linz: an overview of the providers

1. WIFI Upper Austria

WIFI Upper Austria offers the beginners’ course “WordPress Grundlagen” (WordPress basics). You learn how to create and design a WordPress website, add content and manage users. A classic group course with fixed dates. You will find current dates and prices directly at WIFI Upper Austria. Tip: check in advance whether you are eligible for funding, for example through the state’s education account (Bildungskonto).

2. Adult education centre (VHS) Upper Austria

The VHS is the cheapest option on this list. A previous “WordPress Basics” course comprised 12 sessions for around 100 euros (according to the provider’s website at the time – please check for current details). Interestingly, this course already ran online. Whether and when there will be another date, you can see in the course catalogue of the Volkshochschule Oberösterreich.

3. Almtal Webdesign

Similar to my offer: individual training instead of a group course. The difference: Almtal Webdesign also comes on site. If you need someone in Upper Austria to physically sit next to you, this is a good option. More information at Almtal Webdesign.

4. Remote training with me

I am based in Zell am See and teach exclusively via video. No seminar room, no travel, no group. We open your website and work on whatever is on your plate right now. More on that below.

What to look out for when choosing

The providers differ less in quality than in format. Four questions settle almost everything:

Criterion Course (WIFI, VHS) Individual on site (e.g. Almtal) Remote 1:1 (me)
In person or remote mostly in person, partly online on site possible online via video only
Group or 1:1 group 1:1 or small team 1:1 or your team
Price see provider’s website, check funding see provider’s website € 109 / hour excl. VAT, from 1 hour
Content fixed syllabus, sample project by arrangement no fixed syllabus, your own website
Dates fixed course dates by arrangement by arrangement, weekdays

In person or remote: Some people learn better when someone is sitting next to them. Others are glad to save themselves the trip to Linz. Both are legitimate. Ask yourself honestly what works for you.

Group or 1:1: In a group you learn the material the syllabus sets out, at the group’s pace. In a 1:1 you decide the pace and topics yourself. In return, the hour costs more.

Price: Per hour, a VHS course is unbeatably cheap. A 1:1 is more expensive, but often shorter, because it contains nothing you do not need. Calculate with the time you actually need, not just the hourly rate.

Content: A course usually works on a sample installation. That is good for getting started. If you already have a website, you often notice afterwards that everything is different on your own site.

When a course in Linz suits you better than my training

I will honestly recommend one of the other providers if:

  • you are looking for a multi-day course with a certificate, for example for your CV or your employer.
  • you are entitled to funding that only applies to certain course providers.
  • you are starting from scratch and like learning together with others.
  • you absolutely need someone on site sitting next to you.

My training does not replace a formal course. It is there to help you make progress with your own website.

My remote training for Linz and Upper Austria

This is how a training session with me works: we arrange a video appointment, you share your screen, and we work on your website with your login. Because you do the clicking yourself, you can retrace the next day what we practised.

There is no fixed curriculum. Typical topics are:

  • Basics and structure: dashboard, pages and posts, media, menus, user roles
  • Maintaining content without fear of breaking something
  • Elementor or the block editor, depending on what your site is built with
  • Updates, backups and security
  • SEO basics you can maintain yourself
  • Your open questions

Price: € 109 per hour excl. 20 % VAT. You start with one hour; after that I bill to the minute. If your question is answered after forty minutes, you only pay for those forty minutes.

This is a good fit for freelancers and SMEs in Linz, Wels, Steyr or the surrounding area who need answers to specific questions. And for marketing teams who are supposed to build landing pages themselves.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer WordPress training on site in Linz?

No. I teach exclusively online via video, for Linz and all of Upper Austria just as for the rest of Austria. If you need someone on site, WIFI, VHS or Almtal Webdesign are the better choice.

How much does WordPress training with you cost?

€ 109 per hour excl. 20 % VAT. The first hour is the minimum booking; after that I bill to the minute. You will find other providers’ prices on their websites.

Is there funding for WordPress courses in Upper Austria?

Courses at educational institutions such as WIFI are often eligible for funding, for example through the state’s education account. The conditions change, so check this directly with the provider and the state before you sign up.

Who is 1:1 training more useful for than a course?

For anyone who already has a website or is working on a specific project. Freelancers, SMEs and marketing teams usually reach their goal faster in a 1:1, because only their questions are covered.

Do I need any prior knowledge?

No. You should be able to use a browser and share your screen in a video call. We will sort out everything else in the training.
