SEO analyses for beginners: 3 free tools to implement right away

SEO Suchmaschinenoptimierung Tipps für Anfänger

This article is practice-oriented with concrete free tools. If you want to understand the concepts first (how Google ranks), read WordPress SEO basics.

With SEO (search engine optimisation), beginners often find it hard to find a starting point.

In this post I present 3 quick-to-implement optimisations and free analysis tools. No keywords, no target-market theory. Just things you can do right away.

Overview

  1. The first SEO site audit (on-page and a little off-page)
  2. Pagespeed performance analysis (on-page)
  3. Submitting the URL (off-page)

1. Run a free SEO site audit

At https://app.neilpatel.com/ under the „Site Audit“ tab, anyone can have their site analysed for free up to 3 times a day.

What do you learn from it?

  • On-page score – how my SEO currently performs on-page. A first indicator.
  • SEO issues discovered
    • Here you find known errors: missing H1 titles, meta description, duplicate content, broken links. Mostly easy to fix.
  • Site speed for mobile and desktop
    • A first indicator of how Google rates the site technically. More on that in the next point.

2. Run a Google Pagespeed performance test

At https://pagespeed.web.dev everyone should test their site. You see how Google rates the site. Caching, Javascript, CSS – the report shows in detail what can be optimised.

There are tips for SEO too. Just give it a try.

3. Google Search Console

Submit your URL in the Google Search Console. If the domain has been online for a while, it is most likely already indexed. Even so, the Google Search Console offers plenty of important information for optimising and improving the performance of your site.

Enjoy the first analysis of your website. If you need help with SEO or want to learn more about it, I look forward to hearing from you.
