Presentation: Sales Psychology for WooCommerce
Sales Psychology Checklist
Printable PDF checklist to tick off
People buy emotionally. They rationalise only afterwards. You can use this in your WooCommerce shop. Here I show you the psychological levers that work best in my client projects.
At a glance
- Colours in the shop directly influence purchase decisions.
- Trust elements such as seals and return policies increase conversion.
- Good product descriptions sell. Poor ones do not.
What is sales psychology?
Sales psychology examines why people buy. (Sales strategies for WooCommerce) Which stimuli trigger a purchase? What blocks it? Once you understand this, you can optimise your shop in a targeted way.
Colours in web design
Blue feels trustworthy. (The basics of WooCommerce) Red signals urgency. Green stands for safety. Your „Add to cart“ button should stand out — a contrasting colour against the rest of the design. In client projects I often test two colours against each other. The difference in click rate almost always surprises me.
Building in trust elements
Customers do not buy when they feel unsure. Security seals, clear return policies, transparent shipping costs — that builds trust. Show this information early. Not only at checkout. Ideally already on the product page.
Product descriptions that sell
A good description does not just list features. It shows the benefit. Instead of „Battery: 5000 mAh“ rather „Lasts two full working days“. The customer wants to know what the product does for them. Not what it is.
Pricing
9.99 EUR instead of 10 EUR. This has worked for decades. But there is more: strike-through prices, bundle offers, tiered pricing. Test different approaches. In WooCommerce you can enter strike-through prices directly on each product.
Reviews and social proof
92% of buyers read reviews before purchasing. Show customer reviews visibly on the product page. No reviews? Ask your first customers for them actively. Five genuine reviews are worth more than one perfect product photo.
Sales psychology makes the difference between a shop that works and one that merely exists. Apply the levers I have shown you here.
