Most people know SeedProd as the plugin for „We will be back soon“ — the holding page you put in front of a website while it is not yet finished. That was its origin, and it is still the best tool of its kind for that.
In the meantime SeedProd has grown into a full landing page builder. Even so, the comparison with Elementor is skewed: SeedProd builds individual pages, Elementor builds websites.
The interesting outcome of this comparison is therefore not an either/or.

The short answer
SeedProd, if you need a holding page, a maintenance mode or individual, clearly delimited landing pages.
Elementor, if you are building a website.
Both, if you run an Elementor website and occasionally need a campaign page or a maintenance mode — that is a common and sensible combination.
What SeedProd is actually made for
SeedProd covers four things very well:
- Coming soon pages — with an email sign-up before the website exists.
- Maintenance mode — a temporary page with the correct HTTP status 503, so search engines do not think the site is gone for good. Covered in detail in WordPress maintenance mode.
- Individual landing pages — entirely without the website's header and footer, without distraction.
- 404 and login pages — designed instead of default.
What SeedProd does not do: your home page, your service pages, your blog, your post templates. It is a tool for special-purpose pages, not for a website's everyday business.
At a glance
| Elementor | SeedProd | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | a whole website | individual pages and special modes |
| Free version | yes, extensive | yes, for coming soon/maintenance |
| Holding page / maintenance mode | not the intended purpose | core function, with HTTP 503 |
| Landing page without the theme frame | yes, in Pro | yes, the standard case |
| Theme Builder | in Pro | limited (theme kit in Pro) |
| Blog and archive templates | in Pro | no |
| Forms | in Pro | basic, plus integrations |
| Delivered weight | moderate | very low |
| German-language material | a great deal | little |
Where SeedProd scores
The maintenance mode is done properly. This is an underestimated detail: with maintenance mode active, SeedProd returns HTTP status 503, meaning "temporarily unavailable". Many home-made solutions return 200 and risk Google indexing the holding page. For a relaunch that is the difference between a short pause and an SEO problem.
It is extremely light. A SeedProd landing page loads practically nothing from your theme. If you are directing advertising to a page and every tenth of a second counts, that is a real argument.
Getting started is simple. Fewer settings, clear templates, something stands within half an hour.
The free version is enough for the main purpose. If you only need a holding page, you pay nothing.
Where Elementor scores
It builds the whole website. That is not a minor matter but the real difference. With Elementor Pro you design your home page, subpages, header, footer, post templates and archives in one tool and in one design language. SeedProd covers a slice of that.
Design depth. If a landing page is to follow your visual identity exactly — spacing, typography, motion — you have more control in Elementor.
One tool instead of two. Anyone who already has Elementor Pro can build landing pages with it too, in the same system and with the same global colours and fonts — you do not need a second licence for that.
German-language help. Available everywhere for Elementor, considerably less so for SeedProd.
Elementor Pro: Theme Builder, forms and popups sit in the Pro licence — with that Elementor also covers the landing page case that many people install SeedProd for on top. View Elementor Pro
The combination that most often makes sense in practice
I recommend exactly this setup to many clients:
- Elementor for the website — all regular pages, header, footer, blog.
- SeedProd (free) exclusively for maintenance mode during relaunches and larger rebuilds.
That gives you one tool for everyday work and one for the special case it is genuinely better suited to. The free SeedProd version is entirely sufficient for that.
Only if you run advertising campaigns regularly and need very light, strongly isolated landing pages for them is the SeedProd Pro licence worth having as well.
What speaks against SeedProd as your main builder
If you are considering using SeedProd instead of Elementor for the whole website: do not.
SeedProd now has a theme kit, but it is considerably less mature than the one in Elementor Pro. You get a tool that was optimised for a special case and retrofitted for everyday use — with the corresponding gaps in blog layouts, archives and dynamic content.
For a pure one-page website it can work. From the fifth subpage onwards you notice the difference.
My recommendation by situation
SeedProd alone, if you only need a holding page or a single campaign page without the rest of a website.
Elementor alone, if you are building a website and need no special-purpose pages.
Elementor plus SeedProd free, if you run a website and want a clean maintenance mode for rebuilds. For most people that is the most practical setup.
Frequently asked questions
Can Elementor do a maintenance mode?
Elementor Pro has a maintenance mode function, yes. It is usable, but SeedProd is more thorough on this one point — above all regarding the correct HTTP status and the exceptions for logged-in users.
Do the two interfere with each other?
No. SeedProd only takes effect while its mode is active, and landing pages sit on their own URLs.
Is a SeedProd page faster than an Elementor page?
For the same content usually yes, because less of the theme is loaded. The difference is largest on an isolated landing page and small on a normal subpage.
Is SeedProd Pro worth it?
Only if you regularly build landing pages for advertising campaigns. For maintenance mode the free version is enough.
In closing
This is the only comparison in this series where the right answer is often "both". SeedProd and Elementor compete less than the comparison suggests — they cover different moments in the life of a website.
